  Pacific NW Interclub will be hosting our Basic Skills Championship in
Sept 19, 2026- Tacoma @ Sprinker Recreation Center

Mission statement


The Pacific Northwest Basic Skills Series provides an opportunity for skaters across the region to develop their figure skating skills in a fun, supportive, and competitive environment.
​

Series Participation & Registration


To earn Series points, skaters must register before competing in their first approved Series event on this new platform for a small fee.

Important participation rules


-Skaters must register for the Basic Skills Series before their first approved competition in order to earn points.
-Registration includes a $25 registration fee with a $5 administrative fee for a total of $30 one-time annual fee
-Competition results earned before registration will not receive Series points

Skater Eligibility


A skater is eligible to participate if:
-The skater is registered for the Series prior to competing. 
-The skater has an active U.S. Figure Skating membership through one of the       following:
----A full member club of the Pacific Northwest Interclub (PNIC)
----A full member club of the Oregon Skating Council (OSC)
----An affiliated Learn to Skate USA, Aspire, or skating school program connected to a PNIC/OSC club
(Example: Everett FSC / Everett Aspire / Everett Learn to Skate)
A new provisional club currently awaiting USFS approval with a completed interclub application and submitted by Jan 1, 2026.

Eligible Levels (Free Skate Program Only)


The Basic Skills Series is open to skaters competing in:
Snowplow Sam
Basic 1–6
Aspire 1–4
Pre-Preliminary- WELL BALANCED ONLY
Adult 1–6

Competition Requirements


To qualify for Series standings:
Skaters must compete in at least three (3) different clubs or rinks
approved Series competitions.  Series Information must be included in the Competition Announcement to be part of the PNW Basic Skill Series

Example of scoring


If a skater earns:
5 points at Rising Stars -(Seattle SC)
6 points at Edge of the Sound
5 points at Ice Fest- (Seattle SC)(won't count since same club at Rising Stars)
3 points at Apple Ice
Only the top three results are counted:
5 + 6 + 3 = 14 total points
Each competition will have its own entry requirement, please read the entire announcement for each competition. 

Level Advancement Rules


-Skaters may move up levels throughout the season, but not above Pre-Preliminary.  Skater will be ineligible for the championship.
-Skaters may not move down in level after their first competition establishes their starting competition level. Moving down a level will make that event ineligible for points
-Skaters will compete at the Championship at the final level skated, up to Pre-Preliminary
-Skaters may not compete at two different Free Skate levels in the same competition
-Returning skaters may not compete below their previous season’s last level

Scoring


• Skaters will earn points based on placement at Approved Series Competitions.
• Skater’s accumulated points from Approved Series Competitions will be used to determine invitations to PNW Series Championship to be held in Sept 19, 2026- Tacoma @ Sprinker Recreation Center
• Competitions in the Series will award the top four winners, and the top 4 will be awarded a trophy at the Championship.
• The system for scoring points will be as follows:
o 1st place 6 points
o 2nd place 5 points
o 3rd place 4 points
o 4th place 3 points
o 5th place 2 points
o 6th place 1 point
• A skater will be awarded only 3 points if they compete in a single-skater event.
 Bonus- In the event of a tie at the end of the series, bonus points will be awarded to skaters who have
advanced levels throughout the series.

Tie Bonus


In the event of a tie at the end of the Series, bonus points will be awarded to skaters who advanced levels throughout the season. One point for each level moved up from the lowest level of the first competition done by the skater. ​
Championship Invitations:
  • Eligible skaters for the Series Championship will be notified no later than August 21, 2026. Skaters will be notified on the new platform that they are invited and will be able to accept right there. 
  • There will be a registration fee to compete in the PNW Series Championship event, and you will be sent the link to Entryeeze from the skater platform. 
  • Boys and Girls will compete together at Snowplow Sam-Basic 6.  Boys and Girls will compete with like skaters for Aspire 1-4 and Pre-Preliminary. If there is more than one girl or boy in said level. 
  • Skaters invited to the Series Championship Event will be required to compete at the level of their invitation, and trophies will be awarded for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place in each event.
SERIES PARTICIPANT TEAM TROPHY:
  • Team trophies will be awarded to Clubs with the highest cumulative points scored throughout the Approved Series Competitions and awarded at the beginning of the competition before the first events. Clubs need to have someone ready with skaters to be awarded. 1st, 2nd, 3rd place. 
  • One point for each skater competing in an eligible competition will go to the Club points. 
  • ONLY approved series competitions are eligible
