Competition overview

The AZ Synchro Classic will be conducted in accordance with the rules and regulations of U.S. Figure Skating, as set forth in the current Compete USA handbook as well as any pertinent updates that have been posted on the U.S. Figure Skating website.

This competition is open to all eligible, restricted, reinstated or readmitted persons as defined by the Eligibility Rules.

Skaters must be a currently registered member of a U.S. Figure Skating member club, Learn to Skate USA® member, a collegiate club or who is an independent member in accordance with the current rulebook. For non-U.S. citizens, please refer to the rulebook for more information.

Eligibility

Synchronized Skating

This competition does not require that skating skills test requirements for the team's level be met, except for the maximum allowed at the Compete USA levels (Aspire levels).

Compliance

Coaches

To be an eligible coach at a nonqualifying competition, coaches must meet the applicable compliance requirements and be verified by U.S. Figure Skating. Coach compliance falls into two categories, Coach Compliance (including choreographers) and Learn to Skate USA® Instructor Compliance. Details regarding compliance requirements can be found in Members Only, click the blue 'COACH' button. All compliance requirements must be met at the time of check-in to access the competition, no exceptions.

Each registered team may receive credentials for up to four (4) coaches.

Team service personnel

Teams are permitted a maximum of two team service personnel. Team service personnel must have a current U.S. Figure Skating or Learn to Skate USA® membership, a green lighted background check and completed SafeSport™ Training. All compliance requirements must be met at the time of check-in to access the competition, no exceptions. Team service personnel is defined as those indicated as a team manager and/or team service personnel planning to attend the competition with the team.

Mandatory athletes

Athletes age 18+ as of the competition start date who will be competing on a team (i.e., synchro, ice dance, pairs, shadow dance, theatre, etc.) with at least one Minor Athlete must complete SafeSport™ Training. *

Minor athletes who turn 18 mid-season are encouraged to seek parental consent to take the online SafeSport™ Training early to avoid any disruptions in their ability to participate as the training is required upon turning 18. The athlete will not be compliant until they have completed the training and their Members Only portal reflects completion. Please email skatesafe@usfigureskating.org for instructions or questions regarding parental consent.

III. Registration information

Online registration via Entryeeze

Entries must be submitted online via EntryEeze by 11:59 p.m. Arizona Time (MST) on October 30th, 2026. DISCOA requires online entry. Entries will be accepted online via EntryEeze with credit card only. Each transaction includes a credit card fee. Processing fees are not refundable, even if the event is canceled or team withdraws before close of entries. Credit Card Disputes: DISCOA reserves the right to charge an additional fee of $40.00, in addition to the entry fee to resolve any disputes to the credit card charge.

Refund policy

Entry fees will not be refunded after October 30, 2026, unless no competition exists, or the event is canceled. There will be no refunds for medical withdrawals.

Admission

No admission will be charged to the general public for viewing the competition.

Music submission/upload

Online music submission is the ONLY acceptable method to submit program music. After you have paid for your events, the system will prompt you to upload your music for each event that requires music. If your music is not available at that time, you can logout of your account and return later to upload your music by going to the 'Competition' tab and then selecting 'My Music.' Please be sure you are uploading the correct music for the correct event segment.

Each team must have a backup copy of their competition music readily available on a cell phone rink side whenever the team competes. The phone should be presented to the music person with the music file ready to play, in airplane mode, and with the volume turned to maximum.

The LOC, competition officials, and volunteers exercise reasonable care when handling personal cell phones; however, they are not responsible for damage to or loss of any music playing device. The LOC is not responsible for devices not picked up by the end of the competition.

Penalty for Incorrect Music or Failure to Upload Music

The LOC may assess each team an additional charge of $40.00 per event segment if the team: 1) fails to submit their music prior to the close of online music submission, or 2) uploads the incorrect music for a given event segment. In the event the LOC decides to assess a penalty, the team will not receive their credentials at registration until the penalty fee has been paid and a backup copy of their competition music is available on a cell phone.

Liability

U.S. Figure Skating, Learn to Skate USA®, Desert Ice Skating Club of Arizona, Ice Denettes Synchronized Skating Program and Ice Den Scottsdale accept no responsibility for injury or damage sustained by any participant in this competition. This is in accordance with Rule 1600 of the official U.S. Figure Skating Rulebook.

The competition rink is a standard NHL sized ice surface. The facility features a concession style café, full-service ice sports pro shop, bar & restaurant and free parking. Building policy prohibits outside food and beverage. Tailgating is not permitted on the premises. Additional restaurants and retail are within driving distance of the rink.

Locker rooms and changing areas

Locker rooms and changing areas will not be available for this competition. All athletes are expected to arrive at the arena ready (costumes, hair, make-up etc.). Athletes will be provided with an area to put skates on, but changing will not be permitted in these spaces. All doors to the available locker rooms must be kept open at all times and are used for storage of skates and equipment only.

U.S. Figure Skating Travel Policy

All travel must strictly adhere to Two-Deep Leadership requirements. An Adult Participant cannot transport a Minor Athlete one-on-one and Two-Deep Leadership requirements must be adhered to at all times during In-Program travel, by transporting at least two minors who are at least 8 years of age or a second Adult Participant. An Adult Participant cannot share a hotel room or other sleeping arrangement with a Minor Athlete(s). Full details of the SkateSafe® Travel Policy and any exceptions can be found starting on page 12 of the SkateSafe® Handbook.

Official website & updates

The official schedule of events will be posted on Entryeeze. It is the responsibility of each team, team manager and coach to check the websites listed above frequently for any schedule changes and/or additional information. During the competition, updates will be posted through the on-line portal and will supersede all other schedules. Notices posted on the Ice Denettes' website https://www.icedenscottsdale.com/team-skating will be considered sufficient notice to all teams. No schedules will be mailed. Teams are requested to arrive 45 minutes prior to the scheduled time of their event. A tentative schedule of events will be posted as noted above prior to the competition.

Online results will be available during the competition. A QR code, for access, will be provided and posted throughout the building.

Schedule

Teams may be scheduled on any day or time during the announced day of the competition. The competition and practice ice schedule will be available after the close of entries. All participants will be notified via email once available.

Practice ice

Depending on the number of applicants, practice ice for the competition may be offered. If offered, final details for scheduling practice ice will be made available to teams through Entryeeze. (Approximate sales opening date: November 20th, 2026) Music will not be played on Practice Ice.

Onsite check-in

Check-in will open on Saturday, December 5th, 2026, at approximately 10:00 am and will be located inside the main entrance to the ice arena.

If you are participating in a role requiring compliance, please be sure to download or print your compliance card to verify your compliance status on-site, if requested. If you believe your compliance card does not accurately reflect your compliance status, please contact skatesafe@usfigureskating.org at least 2 business days prior to the competition for assistance.

Awards

Compete USA events will have no more than six teams in a group, and all six will receive an award.

Photo/video

Live and on-demand streaming, and sales and distribution of U.S. Figure Skating sanctioned and approved events, programs, and activities that include the playback of music is strictly prohibited. This prohibition does not apply to the distribution of footage that does not include music. Questions about this can be directed to music@usfigureskating.org. Photography: Macy Parris will serve as the official event photographer and will provide team podium photos. Action photography will not be provided.

Air travel

Airport: Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX) is the closest major airport to the competition facility, with convenient access to the Phoenix metropolitan area. Teams should plan to fly into Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PHX).
